Election of Sectoral and Subregional Focal Points for 2026-2028

Join us in leading the APRCEM!
1. What are focal points?
- Focal points are organizations facilitating the work of their respective sector or subregion.
- Focal points are selected and elected within their own constituency.
- An elected focal point is requested to have one main contact person, and an alternate.
- Focal points serve a term of three (3) years.
- All focal points constitute the Regional Coordination Committee (RCC).

The nominations are open for all sectors and subregions, namely:
Sectoral: 1. Dalits, 2. Farmers, 3. Fisherfolks, 4. Indigenous Peoples, 5. LGBTQIA+, 6. Migrants, 7. NGOs, 8. Older Persons, 9. People living in conflict/disaster areas, 10. People Living with/Affected by HIV+, 11. People With Disabilities, 12. Science and Technology, 13. Social and Community Enterprises, 14. Urban Poor, 15. Women, 16. Workers and Trade Unions, and 17. Youth, children, and adolescents.
Subregions: 1. Central Asia, 2. East Asia, 3. Pacific, 4. South Asia, and 5. South East Asia.
2. Who are eligible to nominate/be nominated and vote?
Only organizations that are in the official APRCEM constituencies database have the right to nominate or be nominated. During the election, one (1) organisation is entitled to only one (1) vote. They can either vote for the constituency or sub-regional focal point, but NOT for both. Note: Focal Point organizations cannot serve for more than two (2) consecutive terms.
3. What are the criteria for constituency and sub-regional focal points?
The APRCEM Regional Coordinating Committee listed down criteria for your consideration.
a) Nominees are preferably regional and/or national organisations with working scope in Asia and Pacific, or international organisations with a regional (Asia Pacific) office with most of the board coming from Asia and Pacific.
b) For constituency focal points, priority will be given to constituency-based organisations that represent that particular constituency (e.g., women constituency focal points should be from women organisations. Nominees must demonstrate that they have a priority or primary interest or substantial work experience in addressing issues related to that constituency.
c) Nominated organisations should have interest, capacity and documented experiences in coordinating the CSOs in Asia Pacific in general, and in specific within their constituencies, particularly in building common positions and facilitating collective decision making process; as well as bringing constituency concerns and issues to the regional and global levels.
d) The organisation should have an established office or address with an executive officer. It should have statutes which are transparent and accessible and if a network preferably based on a democratically adopted constitution.
e) Organisations with proof of their independent juridical personality and non-profit and/or tax-exempt status in a State Member of the United Nations.
4. Information on nomination
a) Submit your nominations in this Google form
b) Deadline: Sunday, 31 August 2025. Late and/or incomplete registration will not be accepted.
c) A nominee will only be represented once in the responses spreadsheet. If a candidate is nominated more than once, the first nomination will be retained and all others removed. Candidates will be reviewed on how well they meet the criteria, not on how many people nominate them.
5. What is the election process?

1-14 September | Elections On 1 September 2025, the APRCEM Election Committee will release the approved list of nominees and a link to the election ballot. The election period is for two weeks, 1-14 September. |
